I manage a lot of my day-to-day life on an instance of ownCloud which I access on the desktop using Thunderbird with Lightning, and on Android using various DAV apps. I'm thinking of switching to Firefox OS, but I need to know if the caldav calendar in Firefox OS supports tasks? Also, while we're on the subject, does Firefox OS support carddav as well?

Firefox does support CalDav for the calendars. You can configure the calendar using caldav following these instructions Add and manage calendars . As for CardDav, the support, it is still not available. It is under consideration, and you could request for adding this feature by voting on this bug CardDav support in FirefoxOS
