In the past, when I saw a contact online, I could click on their name and instantly send them an instant message. Now I have to click on messenger icon, then open messenger, then sign on, then find person's name, and on drop down, select "send instant message". Much more labor intensive and annoying.

Hi Peggy13,

This sounds like a known issue reported here:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=713014

There was a workaround posted, but I've not tested it myself. Here are the steps.

  1. Go into Yahoo Messenger Options - Change the Window in the dropdown to Tab and press OK.
  2. Then go back and switch it to small window and press OK.

Once the bug is officially resolved, you could try running a Nightly or Aurora build to use the fix early.

I found Messenger Options and your welcome and appreciated fix was done. It is successful only once. Have to redo every time you sign on. Thanks for replying, Matt

I went back to Firefox 8 Aurora and then Beta. Messenger fine now but lost a couple shortcuts on desktop.
