no i have to toolbar but for some reason my default search engine is set to AVG and no i don't mean the search bar on the top left i mean the search engine on the default homepage, tried running in safe mode and i have no addons that are up to date anyways, and ive tried the about:config reset with no results

If I understand what you are asking - have you tried going to your internet properties in your control panel? This is on your computer, not on the internet.

1. go to control panel (from start menu button in the lower left corner on your desktop) 2. click on "internet options" in control panel 3. the "general" tab, one of the first options is setting your default home page

From here you can copy the exact address (http://www. [fill in complete address]). I use "http://yahoo.com/" After I filled in the address, I clicked "Use current," NOT "Use default." I hope this helps.
