You certainly do not want to install an an extension that would permit Active-X, if you really need or want to browse such pages that can't be viewed properly in Firefox, I would suggest installing the "Launchy" extension which will check the Windows operating system and configure itself. Using the "Launchy" extension you can open the same page in another browser, which for Active-X would mean opening in IE.
