I close tabs, it disappears, but can still ctrl+tab to them. Then they won't close.

Sometimes, when I close a tab, the next tabbed site will be displayed, and it will disappear from the row of tabs on top, as if it really closed. But when I ctrl+tab or ctrl+shift+tab, it remains one of the sites I cycle through. It won't close. Usually, if I close firefox, this goes away, but sometimes the same phantom site(s) remain even after restarting firefox.

Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."
