emails come through but I am unable to open any of them. I can only access them on my phone.

How do you open emails when you want to read them? By simple click on a message to open it in the message pane? By double-click to open the message in a new tab or a new window? What happens if you try one of those actions? Do you get error messages? Does Thunderbird freeze (get unresponsive)?
