Picture-in-Picture - how to disable Always On Top?

SuMo Bot beäntwurde
Stan

I have searched these forums for "always on top" and the results were completely useless, so I assume no one has asked this question before, or the search engine is ineffective.. anyway, the question is:

When watching a video where you can click the right-side button to pop the video out to Picture-in-Picture mode, the video window that pops out is permanently set to Always On Top. It is often inconvenient for it to be Always On Top. I would like to be able to right-click on that video window and be able to select an option to disable Always On Top, or failing that, I would like to be able to disable this Always On Top via manually setting something in about:config. Can anyone recommend a solution that doesn't involve installing any third-party software to control Always on Top behavior? Thank you in advance.

Hi Stan,

Unfortunately you won't achieve this with the built-in tools. The two solutions I found are these:

  • The always on top tool from Microsoft PowerToys
  • Using AutoHotKey to change the relevant window property

AFAIK both do the same thing under the hood.
