When I try to start firefox, the program opens for a second, and then immediately closes, without a crash report or anything. I have checked the system files, and there isn't any to delete, I have also tried opening in safe mode, and it still does not work. I have obviously also deleted and redownloaded the program, and nothing is working. Please let me know what is going on.

hello cm,

someone else had a similar issue like yours.

after some testing, we found that an app that controls what kids can see/do on the computer was pre-launching with the windows desktop.

once the app was disabled, the browser worked perfectly.

so at this time, try checking your start up apps for any that may be serving to protect kids.

you can click on Start > Run > Msconfig to review the applications that are running in the background.

then retest FF

Incidentally, windows also has parental control features. But i do not know how to use this. However, it may also be a possibility.

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet. {web link}
