ok, reinstalling firefox won't help for most problems but i would recommend resetting it to the factory defaults (this will keep your stored bookmarks, history and passwords):

  • enter about:support into the address bar
  • on the top right of the page click the button to refresh firefox
  • after this process is done and you've restarted firefox once, please see if the site loading issue is still apparent.

hi elske, can you please provide a more detailed description about the problems you're seeing with firefox - otherwise it's difficult to provide effective help...

Hi Philipp,

Thank you for replying to my question. I'll try to describe the problem in a little more detail. This is what happens when I try to surf the internet using Mozilla Firefox: I get the following message

"The connection has timed out

The server at www.theguardian.com is taking too long to respond.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."

Sometimes I do manage to load a web page, but it takes ages.

I don't think the internet connection (I use a secure wifi connection) can be the problem, because I have no problems loading web pages using another web browser (Microsoft Edge) and there is no delay whatsoever then. It's just that Firefox doesn't work. Also, this problem occurred suddenly right after installing a Windows10 update (which took several hours, so must have been a major one). My guess is that Mozzilla Firefox does not interact well with the new Windows version, but I have no idea what to do about this. Should I remove and reinstall Firefox? And if yes, how should I go about that?

I hope you can help.
