My Thunderbird has been reduced to just the list of emails above and the email contents space below the email list. How do it return it to its default settings? Everything I tried has made it worst.

I got the folder list back via the Menu/options/layout. Any suggestions on how to restore the status line from the bottom. Mike

There are five options on that list with menu. Status bar is one of them. Just turn them all on. Makes Thunderbird easier to use. The folder pane toolbar in particular make reducing the list of folder to just unread or recent a simple affair.

I'd start by running Thunderbird in Safe Mode; just hold down shift while you start it. If that shows you all the missing bits then we know nothing is broken and can start steering you through possible settings changes.

Zenos, thanks for responding. Let me describe my problem in more detail. The list of Folders on the left side no longer appears. I also do not see the status line at the bottom of the screen, where it would alert me to the status of a "Get Messages" request. I would just like to get the folder list and status line back. It appears that I might have caused this via the menu button on the upper right. But all attempts for remedy the problem just makes it worse and make me more confused. Can I fix this via the menu button, Tools/account settings, or Tools options?
