Any files saved to your local computer hard drive will be preserved.
As a precaution, we do recommend that you backup important files.
None of your personal files will be reset/deleted. Only the Firefox program files.
What kind of problems do you have that you want to reset Firefox?
All files that you have downloaded from the internet will still stored on the computer, but you won't be seeing them in the Downloads Manager (Show All Downloads) if I'm correct. They are part of the history and as such may still be visible, but I don't know if the downloads folder is preserved as well.
When you reset Firefox then a new profile is created and some personal data (bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords, form data) is automatically imported and the current profile folder will be moved to the desktop to an "Old Firefox Data" folder.
Installed extensions and other customizations (toolbars, prefs) that you have made are lost and need to be redone.
It is possible to recover more data from the old profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.
