firefox keeps sticking on opening and closing

I have the latest Firefox 18. I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 with Windows XP sp3, and 500MB of ram. I run updates, and the only real problem I have with Firefox is not wanting to open on startup, nor close on shutdown. It doesn't crash, or give any messages, it just sticks. I used to think it was because it wouldn't work right with Windows in Russian. Now I'm using it here on a validated Windows in English computer, and it still sticks and hangs. Please fix this. Chrome never stuck on me the way Firefox does.

Hello ukrberserker, you are in 500 MB RAM, firefox 18.0 need 512MB of RAM, see: Firefox 18 System Requirements

Chrome needs 128 MB.

You are in the limit, so i think there maybe hangs. I think you must upgrade RAM to 1024.
