Firefox is not working with Gmail, or even Google itself

I am running Vista and FF 11.0.

When I attempt to work with Gmail using FF, I can access the sign-in page, and I can enter user name and password, but upon leaving focus of the password textbox Google goes into a locked state on the tab with none of the links working, nor the buttons, and the user name and password textboxes are both locked and I can't mouse into them any longer.

If I try to do a Google search, I can click the search button and Google does the search, but after it displays the results none of the links or buttons work.

In both cases, when mousing over links the cursor does not turn into a little pointing hand as it normally does.

If I have other tabs open, they work just fine, and I can create new tabs. I can also close the inactive Gmail/Google tab with no problem. Bing searches work OK, btw.

Oddly enough, I have the same problem with Google Chrome! IE9 works no problem. This issue seems to be new as of the last time Vista installed patches on my machine, although I cannot be entirely sure of the exact time the problem started occurring.

Hi,

Please check if this happens in Safe Mode.

Problematic Extensions

Troubleshooting Extensions and Themes

Uninstalling Add-ons

Uninstalling Toolbars

Safe mode disables the installed Extensions, and themes (Appearance) in Tools (Alt + T) > Add-ons. Hardware acceleration is also temporarily disabled - the manual setting is Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Use hardware acceleration when available. Options > Advanced. All these settings/add-ons can also be individually or collectively disabled/enabled/changed in Firefox normal mode to check if an extension, theme or hardware acceleration is causing issues.
