Why did Firefox 4 change the active tab to white and the inactive tabs to gray - it is *impossible* to work with this

What can I do to make the ACTIVE tab stand out? In the previous version of Firefox, the active tab had a red square in the bottom right, so it was visible at a glance.

I already posted this before, but a similar problem was described before here: https://support.mozilla.com/oc/questions/798819 Somebody was nice enough to post an add-on that can customize Firefox quite a bit.

Does anyone know how this suggestion compares with the add-on known as ColorfulTabs - which is more user-friendly, etc.? Thanks!
