Where is my Thunderbird profile file (please read the entire explanation--if it were just a matter of reading and following instructions I wouldn't be asking)

I just installed a new router and all of a sudden nothing is working properly on my PC. Among other things, I need to fix Thunderbird, and for that I need to find where my thunderbird profile is. The instructions I've seen say to go to troubleshooting information, find profile folder, and click on "open folder." When I do that, nothing happens. (I told you installing the router appears to have broken everything--I don't know how that happened, especially since I was on the phone with tech support for the router for install), and I'm no closer to finding the profile file. I can enter %appdata%\roaming\thunderbird\profiles but that shows me two different profile directories and I don't know which one is the right one. How can I find the correct file and why doesn't troubleshooting information just show me that?

where did you get you copy of Thunderbird? It actually matters.

I've had this PC 11 years and Thunderbird's been on it the whole time, so I can't be 100% sure, but I think I got it at mozilla.org.

If installed from thunderbird.net, the profile will be a tc:\users\<yourid>\appdata\roaming\thunderbird BUT, if you installed from Microsoft, the profile is at C:\Users\<Yourid>\AppData\Local\Packages\MozillaThunderbird.MZLA

There is scant documentation on the Microsoft version.Going forward, I suggest always installing from thunderbird.net

I got it from Thunderbird.net. I never get anything from Microsoft if I can help it. This almost answers the question, and I thank both you and Matt for your quick responses. It has taken me so long to respond because I had to go to bed.

Anyhow, the correct directory is C:\users\<yourid>\appdata\roaming\thunderbird. The problem is there are two profile directories there, and I don't know which one is the right one. How do I find that out?
