Allow editing the website domain/URL in Firefox Password Manager

I have a small usability suggestion regarding browser password managers.

When a website changes its domain (for example, from example-old.com to example-new.com), existing saved login entries keep the old domain. In many browsers, users cannot edit the domain field of the saved login.

As a result, users must delete the existing password and create a new one, which is inconvenient when managing many accounts.

A simple improvement would be to allow editing the domain/URL field of an existing saved login entry.

Example: example-old.comexample-new.com

Instead of deleting the login, users could just update the domain.

It’s a small feature, but it would significantly improve password management usability.

Thanks for your work on building great products.

Thank you very much for your reply and for sharing the link to the Mozilla Connect idea. I also noticed that you originally proposed this idea back in May 2022. It was great to see that it has already received significant community support.

I think your idea is very important because domain changes happen quite often, and being able to edit the URL of a saved entry would make password management much easier.

I also noticed that the idea is currently Labels as "login". I was wondering whether it might be clearer if it were categorized more under "password", since the feature is related to the password manager and saved passwords.

Of course this is just a small suggestion, and I really appreciate that you were one of the first users to raise this issue and bring attention to it.

Thanks again for your contribution to improving Firefox.

Thank you for letting me know I was in the right place to participate in the discussion. Best of luck with your work.

Good catch about labels! I've passed your suggestion to Jon, the community manager on Connect.
