start when windows starts
How d o I get Thunderbird to start automatically when Windows starts. I have treid to find this out, but with no luck as yet

Same way you do any application. You place it in the Windows startup folder. You can Google how to do that for your version of Windows.
That being said it is not a real good idea. There are lots of things going on when Windows starts and sometimes that causes errors when Thunderbird starts up in the middle of that chaos, looks for a network connection and tries to get mail.

I suggest you ask at a help forum for your particular version of Windows.
The simple way used to be to add a link to Thunderbird to your Startup folder. But it seems rather harder now in Windows 10, and this article shows how to do it:

In short, make a shortcut to Thunderbird and add it to
"...\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\"

The information above is accurate; however I'm surprised that Thunderbird does not include a checkbox setting something like "Start Thunderbird when Windows starts", just like appears in the options of so many other essential pieces of software. It's an example of how we make Thunderbird more appealing to users who are not technically advanced.
