After a recent update, the filter text persists after closing/reopening Thunderbird

Recently I've noticed if I enter text in the Filter bar at the top of window and then close TB without clearing that text first, it appears in the Filter bar and filters the output upon restarting TB. I'd like to be able to have the filter text be cleared upon restarting TB. Is this possible?

Have you perhaps clicked the "thumbtack" or "pin" button that makes the filter setting persist when changing the folder? It seems it will also preserve the filter text when closing and re-opening Thunderbird.

Thanks. I just checked and the thumbtack is not selected in my case. It doesn't hold the filter text when changing folders, but *does* when I close and reopen TB.  :(
