How do I find/install browser extention

When I open Firefox I receive a notification that I need to install the "Firefox browser extension". I go through the process to install the extension-through System Preferences. I receive no confirmation and the next time I open Firefox I receive the same notification so the browser extension is not being installed. How do I complete this process so browsing extension is enabled to protect internet use.

For now, do not do anything! ! ! This may be malware.
