Yahoo search has somehow hijacked my default search. I've switched it back from Yahoo to DuckDuckGo. I am NOT at all interested in using Yahoo, however, and am ticked that it found its way in. Please tell me how to eliminate it completely from my search options. I've tried to find a remove option within the search set-up box & within add-ons & also searched throughout your site support + external search engines to no avail.

Have you check on Firefox Safe Mode whether the problem resolved or not? Which temporarily off turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-on.

Firefox safe Mode
  • Click the menu button>Help> and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
    * When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

Now remove search engine from about:preferences and come back to normal mode(Just after doing this close firefox and open it again.)

If you still getting that it means something interferes with settings,so do a complete scan of system from Malwarebytes or Adw Cleaner . Also remove any suspicious extension/plugins from firefox add-on menu(simply type addons.mozilla, org into url and hit enter).

after that you need to run Search reset for resetting the search .

Few tinkers can also be done at about:config . Go there and type in search box browser.search.order.US.1 > once you get this result now "Right click on it " and select "Modify" ,now Put a name of search engine "Duck Duck Go" and click "Ok".
