Can't access gmail

I have downloaded Firefox browser and I am trying to access my gmail account but it won't let me because it says that there is a problem because I'm not accepting cookies and I go ahead and go to privacy and do all the steps to enable cookies click OK and exit out and try to go to gmail again and it does not let me. I go back to my settings and the changes I did were like if I had not changed it. Please fix.
