For POP access, you have to enable it in your Hotmail account settings (accessed via the Hotmail website), but for IMAP access, the recommended setup, see this article: http://www.ghacks.net/2013/09/14/access-outlook-com-email-accounts-using-imap/ http://kb.mozillazine.org/Hotmail TB may default to IMAP when you launch the account setup wizard (File/New/Existing Mail Account), so if you wish to have POP access, click on the Manual config. button after you enter your account credentials, and select POP.
