I believe I saw someone ask this a bit ago, but I believe there was no solution. The newer Firefox browsers don't seem to allow the Downloads to pop up in a tab anymore...

The only solution I have found is to use an extension that forces it into a tab anytime I download something. This is the only problem keeping me from using Firefox as my primary browser once again.

Firefox since 20.0 has had the current download history way it is now. It was possible to enable the old manager up until Firefox 26.0 was released.

One way to have Downloads in a tab is to use about:downloads in a tab which can be found in the about: urls list about:about

You can open the about:downloads page in a tab or window if you do not want to use the Downloads Manager with the Library window. You can create a bookmark with the location set to about:downloads for easy access.

Thanks guys, I guess what I'm really looking for then is how to force downloads to automatically open up the Downloads tab like it used to.

Is there something in about: that I can change to do that?
