Hello, I have a very odd problem with my firefox browser. I am running firefox 88 64bit on a 16.04 (I know...) Ubuntu. On certain websites, I have an issue with interactive content: www.leboncoin.fr will not let me login anymore (quite recent) www.decathlon.fr will have trouble displaying user comments, images, let alone placing an order Now and then websites with dynamic content and forms will not load...
I am not sure what is the link between all these but it seems related. I have tried the troubleshoot mode but it does not change anything. At the moment when I need to use these king of website I have to switch to another browser.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello! I have been inspired to customize Firefox to make it look like version "4" from this reddit post!
One of the things that I cannot find is how to get the old Firefox 4 icons. Is there an official site that has them or should I search or the source code of Firefox from version 4?

Is there any way to rotate between different screen sizes option using shortcuts keymaps which appear during "responsive design mode" is on. I found extensions which resizes whole browser & they helps. but it also causes developer tool to resize along with browser which hinders me to see different css properties. so i am looking for a way to rotate only screens.
"Responsive Design mode" is what turns on when we press ctrl+shift+m.
I Love using firefox more than Chrome. This is my go to browser.

Hi there!
I'm attempting to migrate my Firefox (106.0.3) profile from the Linux Mint V20.3 on one SSD to a new installation of Linux Mint V21 on a separate SSD. I'm using the information supplied on this page:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles
Step 4, under Backing up your profile says: Right-click on your profile folder (e.g. xxxxxxxx.default), and select Copy.
This folder, qspfoqtl.default, contains 1 file, named times.json, the contents of which are:
{ "created": 1618792039414, "firstUse": null }
Clearly, not my Firefox profile.
There is, however, a folder named nnob5aww.default-release that contains a bunch of directories and files (505.4MB) with names like bookmarkbackups, browser-extension-data... storage, weave.
Is this documentation incorrect as of this release of Firefox? And, should I be using the nnob5aww.default-release folder as the profile? I'm a little confused. (Most often, I'm a lot confused.) Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
- Ralph

I solved the scrollbars part with this answer:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1419353
Is there a similar setting for the menus? I mean in Firefox's menu bar or the ones popping over the page. The dropdown of the burguer menu and the bookmarks toolbar do get styled (I will include images showing the difference).
Thank you in advance and to zeroknight for sharing the bit about scrollbars!

what triggers the captive portal login... ? It's a great feature on a phone!
I am experiencing it on Linux 6.1.0-13-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.1.55-1 (2023-09-29) x86_64 GNU/Linux, Firefox 115.1 (esr?) to 120.0.
Firefox is talking out through a Comcast-supplied router to the outside world and the captive portal attempt is being sent to one of localhost's aliases.
The firewall was setup as ufw disable; ufw reset; ufw default deny incoming; ufw default allow outgoing; ufw enable. The local apache is reporting attempts to access localhost's /canonical.html every 3 seconds. 127.0.0.1 - - [22/Nov/2023:06:10:55 -0800] "GET /canonical.html HTTP/1.1" 301 582 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:120.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/120.0" sc:80 127.0.0.1 - - [22/Nov/2023:06:10:58 -0800] "GET /canonical.html HTTP/1.1" 301 582 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:120.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/120.0" sc:80 127.0.0.1 - - [22/Nov/2023:06:11:01 -0800] "GET /canonical.html HTTP/1.1" 301 582 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:120.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/120.0" sc:80 127.0.0.1 - - [22/Nov/2023:06:11:04 -0800] "GET /canonical.html HTTP/1.1" 301 582 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:120.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/120.0" sc:80 127.0.0.1 - - [22/Nov/2023:06:11:07 -0800] "GET /canonical.html HTTP/1.1" 301 582 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:120.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/120.0" sc:80 127.0.0.1 - - [22/Nov/2023:06:11:10 -0800] "GET /canonical.html HTTP/1.1" 301 582 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:120.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/120.0" sc:80 127.0.0.1 - - [22/Nov/2023:06:11:13 -0800] "GET /canonical.html HTTP/1.1" 301 582 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:120.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/120.0"

Help! I just installed the latest Firefox 120.0 and I have a huge problem:
I work a lot with the address bar. I type a few characters and choose a URL from my history that I need to work with, then modify that URL by typing or pasting, to get the address I need. Now, I can't do that. Either I accept the full URL suggested or I must type a completely new one. That's a huge obstacle for me. I absolutely need to work with, i.e. select and modify, URLs that I have previously visited.
Please tell me there is a way to do this!

Noticed yesterday but not as prominent, firefox suddenly steals all window focus, trying to do anything in any other window is pushed into firefox no matter if it is minimised or in another workspace. I have tested this in a clean install along with a clean profile. Bitwarden and other windows seem to act weird when they are interacted with.
This all works well and good on b8 and stable. I am using wayland (Ubuntu 22.* default), but xwayland is available.

I have found that Firefox does not play some audio files, for instance on Wikipedia and WaniKani, such as the audio on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erhu and https://www.wanikani.com/vocabulary/%E9%9F%B3. When inspecting network activity I can see that an attempt is made to load the audio on Wikipedia, but it does not play. On WaniKani however, no attempt is made. (WaniKani uses .webm for sound, maybe that has something to do with it?) The problem appeared after the update to Firefox 118 and persists in private browsing and troubleshooting mode, but does not occur in GNOME Web.

I often see that some pages take up too much memory. This critically affects the performance of my laptop with 8 GB of memory. However, I was unable to reproduce this behaviour. Now I have caught two web pages.
https://linuxhandbook.com/sort-top-command/
and https://www.tutorialspoint.com/how-to-find-number-of-ram-slots-in-linux The first page quickly takes up 1-2GB and continues to drain memory. The maximum usage was 7 GB on a laptop with 16 GB of memory. This behaviour is the same in Firefox and Chrome. The second page quickly takes up 2GB, which is very noticeable on 8GB laptops. Why do these pages take up so much memory? Most importantly, how can you protect yourself from such an unexpected memory consumption?

The file-picker (when I choose any file related operation such as Open File, Save As, etc) on just one of my machines is far larger than my desktop size (and the window appears not to be resizable).
When I trigger any such operation I'm presented with what looks like a blank screen as I a shown part of the vast unused area of this oversized window. If I force my wm to allow me to move the window I can use the file picker with a lot of painful repeated scrolling around but otherwise it's unusable.
Any idea why firefox might be doing this or where it might have cached the file picker size? There doesn't appear to be anything related in about:config or userprefs.js
Starting up in trubleshooting mode doesn't have any effect on this.

Dear Firefox Support Team,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to seek assistance with a persistent issue I have been experiencing in my Firefox browser. Despite my efforts to troubleshoot, I have encountered problems with various animations within the browser.
The specific issues include:
Text Selection Animation: The animation for text selection does not function.
Element Overflow Scroll: The animation for scrolling within elements in overflow does not work.
Developer Menu Resizing (F12): The animation for resizing the developer menu (F12) is not functioning.
Button Hover Effects: When hovering over elements such as buttons, the expected CSS :hover modifications do not occur. The cursor remains the same regardless of where it is moved. This is particularly problematic as the cursor often retains the icon corresponding to editable text even when over buttons.
Additionally, there are complications when resizing the browser window. Upon resizing, the window seems to "half" itself, making it impossible to drag or further resize. This behavior also hides the three standard buttons present in all windows.
An additional symptom is that when I initially open the browser, it functions perfectly. However, during usage, the first indication of a problem is the disappearance of the mouse cursor, requiring movement for a couple of seconds. From that point onward, all mentioned issues begin to manifest.
I have taken several steps to address these issues, including:
Complete Firefox Reinstallation: I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox from scratch in an attempt to resolve the problem.
ESR Version Testing: I experimented with the Extended Support Release (ESR) version of Firefox, but the issues persisted.
Hardware Acceleration Disable: I disabled hardware acceleration to check if it was causing the problems, but the animations still did not work correctly.
Despite these efforts, the problems persist, and I am reaching out to seek your expert guidance in resolving these issues. Your assistance in this matter is highly appreciated.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Best regards,
Ivan Beltrame

Hi, I seem to have an issue with Firefox rendering pages with artifacts. I use Linux Mint 21.2 Cinnamon, video adapter is Intel HD 4000. Currently running 6.2 kernel, tried to fall back to 5.15 which didn't change anything. Attached the examples, the first 2 are screenshots of the about:support page, the issue appear there consistently but not necessarily at the same place. I've tried to open Firefox in the Troubleshooting mode, and the artifact appeared right in the dialog asking for restart! (see pic. 3) Enabling software WebRender (gfx.webrender.software=true) fixes the issue.
