how do I transfer bookmarks from an earlier version of Firefox to the present up to date version plus the Taskbar with File, Edit etc

I downloaded 6.2 and the previous bookmarks were not transferred nor was the Task bar. How do I retrieve the old bookmarks and Task bar and put them in 6.2

Do you mean the Status bar?

The Status Bar has been replaced by the Add-ons bar that extensions can use for icons and information.

You can use this extension to get the Status Bar back:

Which Firefox version did you previously had?
Firefox should still use the same profile with all personal data.

Is other personal data missing?

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
