Using T-bird 91.5.1 but lately when I launch, it is not checking for new mail. I have to click on Get Messages... why?

Also: when new messages arrive, the system sound does not play. When I click it, it plays... why?

Make sure you don't have some app like CCleaner resetting TB preferences.
