Firefox for iOS includes an optional ad blocker that can help reduce unwanted advertising while you browse. It uses a filter list based on EasyList to block many ads before they load.
Ad blocking is turned off by default, so you can choose whether to enable it.
This feature is experimental and is being introduced to the Firefox user base through a progressive rollout. It may not yet be available to all users.

What ad blocking does
When enabled, Firefox blocks many types of advertising at the network level, including:
- Third-party advertising networks and exchanges
- Ad-related trackers
- Many third-party ads served by websites
- Intrusive advertising formats, such as pop-ups and overlays
Because websites use different advertising technologies, some ads may still appear.
What ad blocking does not block
Firefox does not block:
- Ads shown on search engine results pages, including Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo and other search providers
- Sponsored content on the Firefox Home or New Tab page
Turn ad blocking on or off from Settings
- Open Firefox for iOS.
- Tap the menu button.
- Tap .
- Scroll to .
- In the Content section, turn Ad Blocker on or off.

You can also quickly enable or disable ad blocking from the Site menu.
- Open a webpage in Firefox.
- Tap the menu to open the Site menu.
- Tap to turn it on or off.

Frequently asked questions
Why do I still see some ads?
Firefox blocks many third-party ads and advertising infrastructure, but not every advertisement can be blocked. Some websites serve ads in ways that are not covered by the current filter list.
Does ad blocking affect search engine ads?
No. Ads shown on search engine results pages are not blocked.
Does ad blocking block sponsored content in Firefox?
No. You can manage the sponsored content on the Firefox Home and New Tab page in your Homepage settings.
Can I turn ad blocking off at any time?
Yes. You can enable or disable ad blocking at any time from Settings or from the Site menu while browsing.
