I used to have an Options icon, just as this9 page outlines: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-set-the-home-page

For over a year I have had NO Options icon and I can't update my homepages. WHY?

WHY haven't you fixed this?

WHY are you publishing INCORRECT so-called "help" pages?

When I click New Fx Menu icon there are 9 icons and NONE are Options.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE KEEP THINGS SIMPLE!!!!!!!!

Can you open the about:preferences page via the location/address bar?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Make sure that toolbars like the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible.

  • "3-bar" menu button > Customize > Show/Hide Toolbars
  • View > Toolbars
You can tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
  • Right-click empty toolbar area

Open the Customize window and set which toolbar items to display.

  • "3-bar" menu button > Customize
  • if missing items are in the Customize palette then drag them back from the Customize window to the toolbar
  • if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the Customize palette then click the Restore Defaults button in the Customize palette window to restore the default toolbar set.

You realize that I simply want firefox to have an Options icon in your menu AS DESCRIBED. I have not customized ff other than adding some add-ons.

Can I please have an ACTUAL answer that involved Mozilla addressing the issue?

SAVING HOMEPAGES SHOULD NOT BE DIFFICULT

Overwrought and dismissive replies like this are not helpful

Turns out all anyone needed to post in MULTIPLE inquiries over the past YEAR in various posts is" Click Restore Defaults.

It would be helpful if Mozilla kept Forum replies focused on the ACTUAL question asked. Overthought, self-aggrandinzing replies about using safe mode are just silly and unhelpful

For whatever reason the Menus in your Firefox setup was not setup at default and was changed. There are some Extensions that allows customization of the Menus in Firefox for example.

cor-el did mention the Restore Defaults.

The article is correct for the Release versions it lists on left where it says "Customize this article" as there is no need to update it for a version unless it changes in a future Release.

Very few people who take the time in helping others here are actually with Mozilla in some capacity. Most of those with Moderator tags are users and not with Mozilla.

Hi cantlogin2,

Do you know anyone else with Firefox on their computer ? If so ask them about it or look at it. You will probably discover Firefox works fine for them.

You could also try the Firefox Refresh option.

Using Refresh may remove Firefox extensions, but if you have none that is not a problem for you. We normally at least initially tell people not to use Refresh because they may have Firefox extensions they need. In which case the first thing we suggest may be the safe mode, because it is quick and simple to use and often helps with troubleshooting.

Firefox's Safe Mode is not meant to be a permanent method of operating Firefox. It is intended as a troubleshooting procedure.
