Please try upgrading to the most recent version of Firefox. A new patch was released yesterday.

Do I uninstall foxfire and reinstall it to get the update? I've uninstalled and reinstalled both foxfire and flashplayer at least a dozen times this week trying to get flash player to work. Yesterday it (flashplayer) appeared out of the blue in my pluggin list, then just as mysteriously disappeared this afternoon. I have no problems watching Netflex, but can't play any other video or FB games. I'm frustrated.

P.S. I see in the system info it says I have it but when I open my list it's not there. And videos and FB games all say I need to install the plug in.

To update Firefox, please do the following:

  1. Select Help from the menu bar
  2. Select About Firefox from the drop-down
  3. Firefox will then open a popup and update
  4. Click the button to restart Firefox, when prompted

If you have an orange Firefox button located at the top of your browser, the Help menu can be located in this menu.

Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the Mozilla Plugin Check site.

Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions. If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow Update button or a red Update now button, please update these immediately.

To do so, please click each red or yellow button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure.

I uninstalled both foxfire and flash and reinstalled once again so far so good. Shockwave flash is now on my add-ons list and working. Crossing my fingers. :) Thanks for your help and I appreciate your input.

Okay, here we go again! Flash player is again missing from my add-on list, poof disappeared!!!! Was on FB playing Farmville 2 and it just stalled. I restarted my computer and logged back in, FB/Fv2 was telling me to install flash player. I then checked my add-ons list. Sure enough it was no longer there... AGAIN. Look I love foxfire but this is really getting on my nerves. LOL Any idea why flash player keeps disappearing? Do I have a ghost?

Do you still see the Flash plugin file?

  • 32 bit Windows: C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\
  • 64 bit Windows: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\

If the plugin is there then you may be missing the registry key(s) that Firefox uses to find the Flash plugin:

HKLM\Software\MozillaPlugins\@adobe.com/FlashPlayer

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.
