Can 25.0 be installed on Solaris 10?
We currently have 23.x installed on one of our Solaris 10 servers... is 25.0 able to be installed? Is it compatible? I noticed a Linux version of 25.0... will that work on Solaris 10?
Thanks,
Shane

Hi,
The Linux version of Firefox will work on any distro including Solaris 10.
Hope this helps!

There are some contrib builds of Firefox 25.0 at http://download.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/25.0/contrib/
They do not have 25.0 listed yet at http://unixpackages.com/packages/mozilla
It will not work on any Linux distro as it needs to meet minimum package dependencies. http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/25.0/system-requirements/

Firefox 25 is listed at http://unixpackages.com/packages/mozilla
The Linux version of Firefox 25 does not work on SPARC and I would hazard a guess that it will not work on Solaris 10 x86. Solaris and Linux are two different worlds.
I would be careful of the contrib version as the warning on Unix Packages states " External Offshore developers in East Asia." So, who knows who is compiling what kind of bad nasties into the contrib.
Frankly, you are out of luck if you want a secure up to date browser with Solaris. Oracle is pretty much abandoning anything to do with desktop productivity software in 11 and 12.
Their latest Firefox on Solaris 10 is 10.0.12 and they have no plans of updating Solaris 10 Firefox any further as they are busy working on Solaris 12. If you want a secure browser, you will need to use an OS other than Solaris.
