Firefox installed & in Control Panel tho no longer works. Message: Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible. Help!

I tried to upgrade to Firefox 17.1 in Dec. 2012. When I did so, Ask.com took over the toolbar, search field, bookmarks, etc. I managed to get rid of it for a little while, but now it is back & since Firefox no longer recognizes my profile I cannot uninstall & reinstall it. Please help ~ thank you!

Try to delete the profiles.ini file to force Firefox to create a new default profile.
