I have a popup that appears when I open firefox page/ new window. The popup is blocked in the preferences/content folder. Unable to remove popup.

I would suggest that you install "Adblock Plus" extension with the "EasyList US" filter subscription installed after installing ADP. If the pop-up is is not blocked you block it yourself with your own filter.
