Several folders of bookmarks were deleted when I upgraded from 3.6.15 to 4.o Can I retrieve these somehow?

The question says everything. Since then I've backed up all my bookmarks - but after the horse has bolted. Also I had previously registered a u/n and p/w with Firefox but the upgrade doesn't recognize it....
