I think Bill is right. I disabled Cool Previews and the noise hasn't recurred.

As stated above, I uninstalled the CoolPreview-plugin..blessed silence!

Uninstalling CoolPreviews is what fixed it for me.

If you have Cool Preview installed, try uninstalling it. That stopped the siren for me.

Same here - I'm getting it on a Mac and my husband is getting the same thing on a Windows machine.

Go to the add-on page and get the Flashblock extension.....it will stop the siren.

I want cool previews and don't want Flashblock....There must be a way to disable/remove this thing individually.....

Same problem here. I tried the solution suggested in a previous message, installing Flashblock, and that stopped the sound. And I'm betting it's from Google. They have a Pacman thing running on their page.
