Thunderbird repeatedly freezes when opening new mail. The program is barely usable. This is on Windows 10.

Deleting msf files does not solve the problem. Turning off windows firewall (a bad idea) does not solve the problem. I don't want to swich to a new mail program after years of using Thunderbird. Can anyone help?

What version of Thunderbird?
