Unfortunately, that's a difficult question to answer because the source is well disguised. If you click on the notification it redirects to a different link each time, none of which I am directly subscribed to.

The notification text includes the url "www.holdingschannel.com", but I don't seem to be directly subscribed to that.

When I click on it, it goes to https://www.getpushmonkey.com then immediately forwards to another site. I don't seem to be subscribed to any of the sites whose urls are displayed on the screen.

Since I can't see a list of the subscribed sites, I have no idea of knowing where it is coming from.

One possible source is a web page you've visited. Another possible source is an add-on you've installed. It's easier to disable/remove add-ons than chase all the possible web pages...

I disabled all add-ons, and waited, and a notification has now popped up (I seem to get about one or two a day, so had to wait a few hours for it to happen). The only add-on that couldn't be disabled was the one called Default ("The default theme").

Thanks for testing that. If you notice any pattern to the previously visited pages when you get a notification, that might help.

I actually can't think of any times I've gotten a notification on Android, so it's difficult to suggest ways to track it down.

The url www.holdingschannel.com seems to be the only thing that is always displayed at the top of these notifications. I've scrolled through the history, but it only goes back 7 days and it's been going on for longer than that.

I'm not particularly prone to clicking on things or allowing permissions, so however it happened it must have been done sneakily; and I imagine if there's a way to do it sneakily it will soon start to be more widely exploited.

For now, I'm going to block Firefox from sending any notifications at all - a sledgehammer solution to the problem. I hope a better solution will come along soon.
