When progarm starts the first page is frozen for about 5 secs, why?

When starting Tbird, the first page is frozen for about 5 seconds, no response is received by clicking on the various choices and even the app close and minimize buttons are not active. Any ideas on how to stop this from occurring?

Looked at McAfee and there was no way to access any settings but the scan time setup settings. McAfee Plus.
