Hello everyone,

I'm experiencing a strange issue with Firefox's Add-ons Manager, and after several troubleshooting attempts, I'm out of ideas.

I performed a completely clean installation of Windows 10 LTSC. Before installing Firefox, I only installed the drivers that Windows installs automatically for my peripherals. I didn't install any third-party software, tweak utilities, antivirus, or anything else.

I then installed the latest version of Firefox, and I noticed the following problem:

From the Add-ons Manager, I cannot open any extension in a new tab.

I've attached screenshots to show the issue.

The extensions themselves work perfectly. I can install them, configure them, enable/disable them, and use them without any problems. The only thing that fails is opening an extension's details in a new tab from the Add-ons Manager.

The issue occurs both when:

- Middle-clicking an extension. - Right-clicking an extension and selecting "Open Link in New Tab."

In both cases, Firefox opens a new tab displaying the following error:

«Firefox can't connect to the server at "addons://detail/[extension-name]".»

I originally noticed this during a previous Windows installation, so I assumed I had broken something while tweaking the system. However, after trying the common solutions I found online without success, I decided to perform another completely clean installation of Windows.

The problem is still present, even on a fresh Windows installation with a fresh Firefox installation.

To rule out Firefox Sync, I also deleted my Mozilla account before reinstalling Windows. The screenshots and all the tests were performed before signing in to any Mozilla account, so no settings, extensions, or preferences had been synchronized.

Has anyone experienced this before or knows whether this is expected behavior, a Firefox bug, or something else?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

One additional thing I noticed:

Immediately after installing Firefox and launching it for the first time, the Developer Tools opened by themselves without me pressing any keyboard shortcut or changing any settings. They opened and closed on their own for a short time, and then never happened again.

The exact same thing also happened during my previous Windows installation, before I decided to perform a completely clean reinstall.

I'm not sure if this is related to the Add-ons Manager issue, but I thought it might be worth mentioning.

With Firefox's interface change, which currently uses a tray to open the quick menu, it would be nice if it also opened the extensions menus in a tray format, like Microsoft Edge does.

I use Firefox on desktop. I have the multi-account containers extension installed. I have a personal container, a work container, a search container, a shopping container, etc.

Every so often, I'd like to clear the history and cookies from some of the containers. For example, I'd like to "reset" the shopping container, but without deleting the history of the work container where I have open sessions.

How can I do this?

I've spent 2,5 hrs trying to add the google analytics opt-out extension manually to no avail, i.e. doing so by downloading the .xpi file from google and then by trying to upload it as an extension added from a local file.

It had already taken me over an hour to figure out how to even add an extension from a local file since that option isn't available in my latest firefox version by-default (I read that people need to downgrade the firefox version to be able to get to these extension settings!?).

All in all, I finally managed to figure out I had to 'debug' the settings by clickling 5 times on the firefox icon (?!?!).

When, at this stage, I managed to see the 'add extension from a local file' option on my "extensions' settings" menu, and try to upload the .xpi file, firefox would close and send me a warning message about it. i.e. the .xpi file wasn't uploaded, the firefox app was closed, and hence the extension wasn't set.

I have managed to find the extension on mozilla add-ons website but, I'm still stuck with mozilla and .xpi files.

How can I then upload an .xpi file to firefox?

Or add any extension from a local file to firefox (usually a .xpi file)?

activar función de pantalla dividida con el caso contrario explicar cómo se puede lograr conseguir dividir la pantalla con el browser kiwi probé con un montón de navegadores como 10 por lo menos y en todos que decían que servían para pantalla dividida la mayoría no encontré la función ni siquiera sé cómo puedo hacer con una alguna extensión lograr la pantalla dividida lo que tenía en pantalla dividida en forma instantánea no se pueden usar por la propaganda que tapaba todo en la pantalla Me pueden ayudar tengo que trabajar con pantalla dividida y no puedo trabajar cómo tengo que hacer.....????? Aclaración importante no es una computadora no es un pc es un celular Android 14 Chrome 142 lo compré exactamente hace un año en diciembre del 2024 el nuevo pero consulté la inteligencia artificial y me dijo que seguramente por el modelo económico no estaría habilitada la función en el Android 14 como está en la mayoría de los teléfonos porque la versión de Android 14 lo permite a la pantalla dividida pero la mía no lo permite no obstante esto consulto si los navegadores pueden dividir la pantalla porque ninguno tiene la función que le hacen propaganda aunque no se pueda dividir la pantalla por Android 14 se tiene que poder dividir por el navegador digo yo a lo mejor no es así y por eso ningún navegador que tiene propaganda con pantalla dividida se puede dividir quiero saber este aspecto técnico sin embargo los browser que tienen pantalla dividida y que yo lo crea activarlos usarlos no se pueden usar por que la propaganda tapa todo la pantalla es decir que si hay navegadores que tienen pantalla dividida sin necesidad de que el Android 14 funcione por eso que le consulto porque en el kiwi que funciona como pantalla dividida como tantos otros navegadores como Vivaldi como Chrome como brave como multiview como firefox como Samsung internet explorer como ópera etcétera etcétera Agradeceré respuesta Lo más pronto posible porque tengo que trabajar con pantalla dividida espero respuestas saludos Adrián de Argentina

Estoy intentando instalar la extensión VPN de Proton en mi Ipad, pero el proceso se me queda en descargar Firefox, y de ahí no avanza.

También tecleo about:config en la dirección URL y me lleva a otra pantalla, ya abierta, pero no me da acceso a la configuración.

¿Alguna idea?

A few days ago I got PRIME working after struggling for a few months with it. When I rebooted, Firefox loaded my windows but no tabs, and had some very strange graphical glitches. However, it loaded everything in safe mode, then nothing again in normal mode, back and forth. It's taken me days to track this one down, but deleting the file `~/.mozilla/firefox/<profile>/extensions/newtab@mozilla.org.xpi` enabled me to load my session again without having to copy-paste tons of tab URLs or reinstall and reconfigure all my extensions, etc.

Would have been a nightmare, and after the debacle with Exposé wiping nearly 1000 open tabs, I've never quite trusted Firefox. Since then Chromium has wiped > 600 _thrice_ though so I'm seriously considering switching back to Firefox... if it can respect my data and stop suggesting a corrupt profile should be fixed by a "refresh" (aka "delete all your data since we treated it poorly").

Anyway, the file timestamp is 5 Nov (2 days ago), and correlates with a system update I did around the same time. I'm on Arch Linux which is rolling release, so I might serve as a dead canary to warn that something should get fixed now before it hurts more users.

I'm using an add-on (ReplyWithHeader) that modifies the header displayed when replying to or forwarding emails. I have this problem: since Thunderbird v143, inline images no longer appear — they now point to an imap://fetch URL, so the images aren’t displayed. Several add-ons with similar functionality have the same issue. If you disable them, everything works fine (inline images are displayed correctly).

Developers of these add-ons say they rely on the WebExtension API (and probably the setComposeDetails function), so they can’t fix this on their side. Is there any way to confirm whether the Thunderbird API has changed since v140 (where these add-ons worked perfectly)? Could it be that, even if the issue seems to come from the add-on, there’s actually a bug in Thunderbird’s API?

If this isn’t the right place to ask about this, could you please tell me where I should post it?

I really need to modify the default reply header in Thunderbird, so this functionality is quite important to me.
