Using new computer with windows 7 and now when acc3essing statements for credit card info I get this response C:\Users\John\AppData\Local\Temp\Doc20130617161420 could not be opened, because the associated helper application does not exist. Change the association in your preferences.

How do I do this? I never had this problem with my previous computer also running windows 7

I am on FF 25.0.1 I was having the same problem when downloading PDF files. I looked at FF/Options/Options/Applications and there was, in fact, an entry for PDF and the associated Action was Adobe Reader. Well, that wasn't working so I changed the Action to 'Always Ask' and tried again. I was not asked what to do; I still got the same error - 'associated helper application does not exist'. Something not right here so I looked closer at the Associations and discovered that there was a second entry for pdf's, called 'Portable Document File (PDF)'. It too listed the action as Adobe Reader. I changed that one to Always Ask and tried again. This time, it asked me what action to take. I selected Adobe Reader and checked the box, 'do this automatically for files like this', and it worked - Adobe Reader opened the pdf. I then went back to Associations and changed the Portable Document Reader (PDF) entry from 'Always Ask' to Adobe Reader. I have not had the problem since. I suspect that the entry for Portable Document Format (PDF) had been corrupted. I also changed the PDF entry back to Adobe Reader.
