Firefox does not appear in the list of default programs in Windows 7 so I cannot select it to be my default browser.

Tools > Options > Advanced > "Check Now" then have Firefox be your default browser

Thanks, but I'm no further on I'm afraid.

I c annot see "Tools" within my Firefox. W7 does not show a "Tools" option in the dropdown.

The suggestion in the link assumes that Firefox is already in the default list. That's my problem; it is not in the list.
