Why isn't my browse file button working?

When attempting to attach a file using yahoo mail I click the browse button and nothing happens except a dotted square box appears on top of the browse button. This also happened when trying to attach my resume in a different program. When I switched to internet explorer these things worked. I am thinking there is a problem with my firefox.?

I am still having this issue with firefox. The problem isn't happening when using Internet Explorer. Any suggestions or should I just use IE?
