All 'Sent' messages now appear as 'Unread'

Thunderbird never marked messages copied to the 'Sent Items' folder as 'Unread' before and then a few updates ago, it started doing this. How do I get it to go back to what it did before and automatically list all sent messages as read as they are copied? Who wants to read every sent e-mail? Richard

What mail provider? Is the account IMAP?

My bad. I saw your question while using my laptop and so signed into my e-mail (Outlook) using the browser interface and my problem is there as well, so it's not Thunderbird (which I only use on my desktop), it's Outlook. Doh! I can't delete my original question now, though.
