Can't delete messages

I just bought a new PC which is running Windows 10 and have installed Thunderbird version 60.3.3. I have transferred my profile to the new computer. It was working fine on the old computer. I download my messages. For a while I cqn delete messages. And then I cannot delete any more messages. I have tried the suggestion of deleting my trash folder. That did not solve the problem. I find that when I restart my computer, I can delete messages for a while and then once again I am unable to delete messages. Please HELP.

As it is unknown if there is some corruption in the 'Inbox' file, please do the following to ensure good emails are not lost. This is a precaution and as a general rule not required in order to compact.

Move all good emails out of Inbox into other suitable folders for storage. right click on 'Inbox' and select 'Compact'.

Compacting is something you should be doing on a regular basis. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_Tips_:_Compacting_Folders

Once compacting has finished try deleting the emails you do not want.
