I don't want my "Inbox" folder to "expand" when I hover over it during a drag-and-drop move - how do I stop this?

I drag a message to my inbox. If I am too slow to "drop" the message, all of the sub-folders magically open. Often, because of my jerky hand, I end up "dropping" the message into one of the sub-folders. Then... I have to look for it, and try again. I realize that this auto-expand is useful for many, but for me it's an annoyance. How do I get rid of this "feature"?
