Event reminder notification

When I set up an event the only reminder option is 'Show an Alert'. How can I get it to notify me via EMail? I know this used to be an option.

There used to be an addon but it has not worked for ages...since before version 38. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/custom-alarms/

Perhaps you are thinking of that addon?

Possible workaround you could try. I know Events can send emails to attendees, so in theory you could set up an event and put yourself as the only attendee.
