The desktop Firefox is available in a long list of languages including three different English versions at www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

Since you are using WinXP see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/get-latest-version-firefox-windows-xp-vista

Windows XP (and Vista) users are being served Firefox 43.0.1 on mozilla.org and www.mozilla.org/firefox/all for a reason.

The default web browser useragents on Windows XP does not show if you have SP2 or SP3 installed. You need SP3 in order to run the 43.0.2 and newer setups including 48.0 due to signing of setups.

You can either update in Firefox from 43.0.1 to 48.0 or if you have WinXP SP3 you can download Firefox 48.0 setup from http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/48.0/win32/ as you pick your language and download the larger setup and not the small stub.

If you download from a random download site outside of mozilla.org there is no guarantee it will be say the en-US version.

Thankx James for the prompt answer. I now live in a communist realm as given to us by the Marxist Mandela which is breaking everything in sight. As apparently also your website. I am using Sp3 but the last link you supplied was previously tried by me plus the 2 other earlier today without any luck. I hope I am wrong but apparently you were hacked by the Ruskies as again for the 7th time I got the unreadable RED DANGERS LANGUAGE version. Have been using Firefox from 1999 but this is beating me down. Regards Bossiebek.

Let’s do a full clean re-install; Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link} Save the file. Then Close Firefox.

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Mac: Open the "Applications" folder.
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac Linux: Check your user manual.

Do Not remove the profiles folder.

Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox program folders by adding .old to them. Do not rename the Mozilla Thunderbird folder.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner. Then run the installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.

If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.

No, the servers like https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/48.0/win32/ or https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/48.0/win32/ are not hacked. If it was true it would be a very hot topic here and other places.

If you pick en-US then you will get American English and if you pick en-GB you will get British English for example. You will only get Russian if you download the ru build.

Make sure all Firefox is closed first when you install and start Firefox you are starting the new build and not using a existing install if you do not uninstall it first.

Can you check for a hijacked connection at the Windows level and in your router. This sometimes is accomplished through a DNS server change, and in other cases, by modifying proxy settings. By default, Firefox piggybacks on your Windows XP network settings.

Can you download these cleaning tools on a trusted system over a trustworthy connection and run them: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.
