Hi Just moved to a new PC, managed to get all existing mails set up in the new TB, but now every time I start it, it wants to re-download all mails left on the servers (I do that to be able to access them via browser). Someone here suggested to copy the popstate.dat file for each POP account to prevent Thunderbird from downloading all of the messages for that server again. I tried that with exactly zero effect! Any solutions please? I have a LOT of mails on the servers. Thanks

Hi HeinzW.

In case you would use IMAP, you should be able to limit the sync by the age of messages in Account settings > account > Synchronization & Storage. The options for IMAP are more detailed described in the IMAP Synchronization article.

I haven't used POP3 for ages, so not sure about its options to limit downloading old messages.

Michal
