why does thunderbird report only outlookexpress is seen even though outlook2007 is loaded on pc?

I think Thunderbird can only import from Outlook when Outlook is set as the default mail client. Start Outlook and go to File -> Options -> General and make it the default mail client. After that, Thunderbird should be able to import your .pst file.
