How do I keep FF from clearing login info when I go back and forth to my password manager to copy and paste user id & password?

When trying to login to my online banking account I copy and paste the user id from my pw manager then go to the pw manager again & copy the pw. When I go back to FF the user id field is cleared & I have to start over again which results in the same thing. How do I get FF to retain information from one screen to the next?
