A browser window pops up and there's a Microsoft logo: We can't sign you in Your browser is currently set to block cookies. You need to allow cookies to use this service.

https://login.live.com/ is the URL in the mini-browser window.

This all worked in the prior version, something changed in 115.3.1 (64-bit)

Firefox is the default browser. I tried it with Edge as the default browser, same problem. It didn't used to pop up a window to login.

I have two Mac systems. An M1 2020 MacBook Pro and a 2014 Intel Mac mini, macOS Monterey on both systems. I use the email client "Postbox" which is based on Thunderbird. When I saw the announcement for Thunderbird 115 Supernova I thought I'd give it a try. Installed on the MacBook Pro, played around a bit but ended up uninstalling it. Now on the MacBook Pro, I keep getting the attached image where the email body should be. It only happens on the MacBook Pro, so I'm thinking it must have something to do with the Thunderbird installation/removal. What do I have to do/delete/change to have this go away? Thanks.

Hello,

All of a sudden, this morning, my Thunderbird (102.12.0) will not sync my Office365 account's inbox via IMAP. I get the error message that

The current command did not succeed. The mail server for account [my university account] responded: User is authenticated but not connected.

A couple of seconds later, the above message is replaced by:

Server outlook.office365.com has disconnected. The server may have gone down or there may be a network problem.

The problem occurs on my laptop and on my desktop. I am sure all my settings are correct. I have read the entire thread here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook_com/forum/all/thunderbird-imap-responded-user-is-authenticated/062a82f6-e678-4462-88b7-dd6cc318386f

I have disabled IPV6 as instructed in the preferred answer: advanced config > network.dns.disableIPv6 = true.

I have also added network.dns.ipv4OnlyDomains = office365.com (I also tried outlook.office365.com).

I am using Kaspersky One antivirus. When I installed it, I had to add Outlook in the trusted addresses, as it wouldn't let me send email, but after I did, Thunderbird was again working as expected (this was two months ago). I am adding this detail just in case it is somehow relevant.

I am not sure when Thunderbird updated to 102.12.0 or if this is in any way related to the problem.

Meanwhile, I can sync incoming mail in my Gmail app on Android. I saw that the IMAP setting there uses port 443 instead of 993. When I tried setting 443 in Thunderbird, it simply took too long to connect to the server and timed out.

I don't know what else to try. Hopefully, you can think of a solution.

I'm trying to set up Thunderbird as a client for outlook O365.

We use PIV cards for authentication.

When I try to add the account, a pop up window comes up asking me to authenticate. Thunderbird does not play well with PIV cards, so it doesn't go through (the card works well with Chromium but not Firefox).

I tried installing the Owl for Exchange plugin, but when I try to add the account, the pop up window to authenticate closes quickly and I see a message saying "gMsgWindowList[msgWindowHandle] is null".

Any advice? Alternatively, is it possible to configure Thunderbird to use Chromium for authentication?

Since having to change my Microsoft Account Password recently, Outlook.com in Tbird Ver.102 now asks for the password each time I open Tbird (which I successfully provide). My oher addresses (including Gmail) operate normally without login requests. I considered selecting "Yes" when invited to add the PW to the Tbird (?) Passwords Safe. but am noting the many Support Discussions about problems apparently associated with it. Are there any comments and/or Tbird Settings that I should ensure are properly set before I contemplate getting myself into yet another problem?

I use both Thunderbird and Outlook for my cox.net email account. I can receive incoming emails using Thunderbird but cannot send emails, and I can both receive and send emails using Outlook. The server settings are identical for both Thunderbird and Outlook - imap with STARTTLS and port 993 and smtp with STARTTLS and port 587. When Thunderbird is unable to send an email, I get a balloon that indicates that the smtp server cannot recognize my email address, which is hklesserjr@cox.net.

This is an ongoing problem and it has been around for years. I know it existed in 102 and also now in 115. That is that despite the Junk Settings being set to "Delete them" under the checked statement "When I mark messages as junk", they do not ever get deleted. I have to manually delete items marked as junk, which is mostly accurate. So in my inbox, I just see a multitude of items marked as junk each morning until I re-sort by junk status instead of date and then easily delete them and then go back to sort by date.

Hello,

Recently, I started getting "Add Security Exception" on two computers accessing the same email account CALDAV calendar and contacts. The location shown is "mail.purplepapyrus.com:2080" and cites an outdated certificate. If you remove the port :2080 and request to get the certificate, it finds an up to date certification. It will not add an exception either through this window, or via the certificate manager. I have removed all CALDAV calendar and contacts from Thunderbird, removed the old certificate via the manager, and yet it comes back the next time I start Thunderbird. I have completely removed Thunderbird on the one the computers and reinstalled. Still happening. Oh, I should point out I am still sending and receiving emails, just the calendar and contacts that are not syncing/working.

Perplexed!

Version: 102.12.0

FYI, the buttons / options that i refer to might be named slightly differently, as i'm using dutch language for my interface.

Summary The enter password dialog is not showing up when sending an email over SMTP, when the password previously was added to the password manager, but has been deleted since.

What happend

  1. I've had a working account to an IMAP and SMTP server (both same subdomain, same password, diffrent ports).
  2. the password was stored in the password manager.
  3. the subdomain and port of the SMTP server needed to change, and i update the subdomain and port in account settings > outgoing server (SMTP) > Edit SMTP server. The new subdomain for SMTP was not known yet by the password manager.
  4. on sending the next email through SMTP, i was prompted for the new password, with the "store in password manager" checkbox unchecked.
  5. I entered the wrong password (LDAP instead of email) and checked "store in password manager", then continued the email send process.
  6. this led to an error sending the email.
  7. I checked online how to change the password and found https://smallbusiness.chron.com/reset-password-thunderbird-48064.html , which advised me to delete the password from the password manager.
  8. I deleted the password, closed the password manager dialog and restarted thunderbird as per the previous link.
  9. I pressed get messages without getting prompted for the SMTP server password, which is expected as the IMAP is still using the old subdomain with the stored password.
  10. when re-sending the email that i have in my draft / concept folder, i was not prompted to enter the password for the new SMTP subdomain, even though i removed it from the password manager.
  11. sending timed out with error about failed to send the email, because connecting to the outgoing SMTP server failed. with the added hint that perhaps the server is not available or refusing SMTP connections. However, the connection does not have a password to connect with stored, and other people are able to connect to the new SMTP subdomain and send emails.

What have i tried

  • Troubleshooting Mode
  • Clear startup cache
  • restart thunderbird
  • reboot laptop

I've checked https://support.mozilla.org/eu/questions/1245702, but this did not help my situation and can't find anything else that matches my issue.

Can you please help me with how I can either manually add the password for the subdomain (the subdomain is no longer in the password manager), or trigger the SMTP add password dialog?

I'm unable to send from gmail in thunderbird. Any help resolving this issue will be much appreciated. I can receive from gmail in thunderbird just fine. I can send from mail.google.com in a browser with no problem. I am unable to set the smtp authentication method to oauth2 in thunderbird. I think this might be part of the problem. Oath2 isn't in the drop-down menu. I'm using POP and am not interested in switching to IMAP. I've attached a screenshot of the smtp settings and the authentication drop-down. I've also attached the Application Basics and Mail and News Accounts sections from the thunderbird troubleshooting info.
